Are you an experienced Project Manager who thrives on variety, complexity and bringing people together to deliver meaningful change?
We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Digital team, supporting the delivery of a broad portfolio of digital and technology projects across Toi Ohomai.
This is a varied, hands-on role working across initiatives of different sizes, stages and levels of complexity. You might be helping shape the scope and requirements for a new digital solution, coordinating the implementation of a system or technology change, working through dependencies across multiple teams, or supporting a project through testing, implementation and transition into business as usual.
You will work closely with Digital specialists, leaders, kaimahi, vendors and stakeholders from across the organisation to translate business needs into well-planned and effectively delivered projects.
We are looking for someone who can see both the big picture and the detail. You will be comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities at the same time, creating structure where it is needed, navigating ambiguity, and keeping people focused on the outcomes we are trying to achieve.
Ngā mahi | Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Manage a diverse portfolio of digital and technology projects from initial concept and discovery through to delivery, implementation and handover.
- Work with stakeholders to understand business needs, clarify project objectives, define scope and establish clear delivery requirements.
- Develop practical project plans, milestones, budgets, resource requirements and delivery approaches appropriate to the scale and complexity of each project.
- Coordinate project activity across Digital, business teams, external suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Manage multiple projects and workstreams concurrently, balancing competing priorities, dependencies and deadlines.
- Monitor project progress, risks, issues, decisions and dependencies, ensuring these are visible and actively managed.
- Facilitate effective project governance, reporting and decision-making.
- Support requirements gathering, solution design, procurement, testing, implementation and transition into operational environments.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and create shared ownership of project outcomes.
- Support effective change, communication and stakeholder engagement so that new technology and ways of working are successfully adopted.
- Ensure projects are delivered with appropriate consideration of information security, privacy, data, architecture, integration and organisational requirements.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of pragmatic and fit-for-purpose project delivery practices within the Digital team.
- Capture lessons learned and identify opportunities to continually improve the way digital projects are delivered.

You are an adaptable and capable Project Manager who is comfortable working across a wide variety of digital and technology initiatives.
You bring:
- Proven experience managing digital, technology, systems or business transformation projects.
- Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to maintain momentum across a changing portfolio of work.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work with people at different levels and across different professional disciplines.
- The ability to translate between business needs and technical teams, helping create shared understanding and clear outcomes.
- Sound judgement and the ability to identify risks, dependencies and emerging issues early.
- Confidence working in environments where not everything is defined from the outset and the ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including project reporting and facilitation.
- A practical, collaborative approach to project management, applying the right level of process and governance for the work rather than a one-size-fits-all methodology.
- A relevant project management, technology, business or related qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience within a complex organisation, tertiary education, the public sector or another multi-stakeholder environment would be advantageous. Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall or hybrid project delivery approaches would also be useful; however, we are particularly interested in your ability to adapt your approach to the project and organisational context.
Above all, you will be someone who enjoys making things happen: bringing together people, technology, information and decisions to move projects forward and deliver outcomes that work for our organisation, our kaimahi and our ākonga.
