Remuneration: $123,400 - $154,200 (Fixed remuneration excluding Kiwisaver)

Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology is entering an exciting phase of transformation, focused on creating financially sustainable, future-ready environments that support excellence in vocational education. As part of this journey, we are seeking an experienced and innovative leader to head our Facilities function.

As Head of Facilities, you will play a key role in shaping the infrastructure that enables financial sustainability and high-quality teaching, learning, and community engagement. Finance and Infrastructure

Finance and Infrastructure is a key enabling function for Toi Ohomai, supporting the development of business capabilities, processes and systems that enable our ākonga, organisation and kaimahi to thrive. This directorate leads financial partnership, infrastructure development, and digital innovation, ensuring our environments are not only safe and compliant, but also future-ready and aligned with the evolving needs of both ākonga (learners) and kaimahi (staff). From uplifting financial acumen and practice to transforming infrastructure (physical and digital), this directorate plays a vital role in creating spaces and systems that support learning, collaboration, and everyday operations.

Ngā mahi | Key Responsibilities

You will lead the strategic planning and delivery of facilities services across our campuses, ensuring they are safe, resilient, and responsive to the needs of ākonga (students), kaimahi (staff), and our communities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead capital works, asset lifecycle management, and space optimisation.
  • Embed sustainability and kaitiakitanga into infrastructure planning and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, in collaboration with the Wellbeing and Safety team.
  • Drive strategic procurement practices in partnership with Finance.
  • Provide thought leadership, staying ahead of industry trends and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across the organisation to deliver integrated, future-focused facilities services.

You bring:

  • A degree level qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in facilities and property leadership across multi-site environments.
  • Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and large-scale budgets.
  • A highly collaborative approach and proven ability to lead and drive organisational success through key business partnering 
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori success.
  • An equitable, inclusive, and continuous improvement mindset and approach.
