Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

We have an exciting full time, permanent (40 hours per week), opportunity for an energetic person to join our team as a Fitness Instructor and Lifeguard. This role is key in enhancing our members wellness and maintaining the facility on a day to day basis. A current first aid certificate and pool lifeguard practicing certificate are desirable, however training will be provided to the successful candidate if they do not have these. Maintaining ongoing relationships with staff, students and visitors to the facility is crucial therefore, experience in dealing with customers is a must.

The Fitness Instructor and Lifeguard position is based in our Windemere Campus, Tauranga, Toi Ohomai | Te Pūkenga reporting to the Aquatic Centre Manager and will be responsible for: 

  • Running group fitness sessions and programming for users
  • Gym and Pool maintenance
  • Lifeguarding
  • Reception duties
  • Supervision of the centre

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A minimum certificate level 4 is essential, personal training, exercise, coaching or sport and recreation
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly at an interpersonal level
  • Good customer service skills
  • Superb motivational skills
  • Ability and willingness to support teaching staff in and around the fitness centre environment
