Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the Role

The Foundation team requires a tutor for our foundation programme(s) at our Windmere Campus for Semester 2, 2026.

This is a fixed-term, full-time position from 20 July 2026 to 18 December 2026. The role requires a tutor with a well-rounded skill set, including the ability to teach academic reading and writing, along with competence in basic numeracy. A passion for and understanding of Foundation ākonga is essential, as is a commitment to creating an engaging, supportive, and learner-centred environment.

Working within the Foundation team, you will play a key role in supporting ākonga to develop the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to progress into further study, training, or employment pathways.

Ngā mahi | Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and adapt learning resources to meet a range of learner needs.
  • Support ākonga to build capability in academic reading, writing, study skills, and basic numeracy.
  • Create an inclusive and positive learning environment that promotes learner engagement and success.
  • Design and implement assessments and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Monitor learner progress and contribute to positive learner achievement and retention outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support programme and learner success.

You will bring:

  • Experience teaching or supporting learners in a foundation, secondary, adult education, or tertiary setting.
  • Strong skills in academic reading and writing instruction.
  • Competence in teaching basic numeracy.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting Foundation learners and helping them achieve their goals.
  • An understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable learner outcomes.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

The Foundation team requires additional teaching support to deliver the NZ2863 Study and Employment Pathways Level 3 programme at Windmere Campus during Semester 2, 2026. This fixed-term appointment will ensure learners receive high-quality teaching and support across academic literacy and numeracy components of the programme.
