Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the Role

The Academic Staff Member (ASM) is responsible for the delivery and development of high-quality teaching and learning in the Bachelor of Applied Management (BAM) and Bachelor of Accountancy (BAcc) programmes. This role focuses on teaching the 30-credit Industry Project paper (capstone, final compulsory course) and the Leadership paper, ensuring ākonga (students) are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and professional readiness required for successful graduate outcomes.

This full-time permanent role requires strong academic and industry knowledge, excellence in teaching practice, and the ability to foster relationships with ākonga, kaimahi (employees), and industry stakeholders.

Ngā mahi | Key Responsibilities 

  • Teach Industry Project and Leadership papers using inclusive, real-world approaches that support ākonga success across varied learning formats.
  • Lead and mentor ākonga through all phases of their final Industry Project, ensuring relevance through industry engagement and skill development.
  • Develop curriculum and resources aligned with programme goals, industry standards, and NZQA requirements, embedding key graduate capabilities.
  • Design assessments that measure learning outcomes, provide timely feedback, and support ākonga progress through moderation and intervention.
  • Support ākonga academically and pastorally, fostering engagement, collaboration, and a culturally safe learning environment.
  • Maintain professional currency through ongoing development, research, industry engagement, and contribution to institutional improvement.

  • Hold a relevant bachelor’s degree (minimum) and demonstrates expertise in leadership and applied management, supported by industry experience aligned with business practice.
  • Possesses strong communication, facilitation, and organisational skills, with a high level of professionalism, ethics, and a commitment to equitable education and ākonga success.
  • Adopts a flexible, innovative, and reflective approach to teaching and learning, and works effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Cultural competence and commitment to equity, including understanding Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations and supporting the use of te reo Māori, tikanga, and mātauranga Māori in the workplace.
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and vocational education excellence.
